Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan has ruled out any alliance with either the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Haasan, however, hinted at forging an alliance with the Indian National Congress (INC) for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The DMK has said its Rajya Sabha MP TKS Elangovan has been relieved of the post of secretary, public relations, party jargon that denotes the position of spokesperson. Protesters check vehicles for women a day before Sabarimala Temple opening :
Several groups of devotees, including elderly women, chanted "Swamiya Saranam Ayyappa" as they "inspected" cars, buses and taxis at Nilakkal and young women, if spotted, were asked to stop right there. When Times Now reporter attempted to take the route to the temple, she was stopped and the car was not allowed to travel any further.
