About this video: This video is our step-by-step guide on how to add mods to a Minecraft 1.14 server. Specifically, we show you exactly how to download and install Forge mods in Minecraft 1.14 on a server. You will need a Forge server in order to get mods on your 1.14 server, so be sure to watch our in-depth tutorial on starting a Forge server in the description above. Once you've done that, we can add some mods to it!
First things first, we need to find some mods. You can find a link to the Top 5 Mods for Minecraft in the description above. Not all of those are updated to 1.14, but most of them are, and they will work great on 1.14 servers. Please note though that not all mods work on servers in Minecraft 1.14. Thus, there is going to be some trial and error with mods. I recommend only installing one mod at a time on your 1.14 server in order to make sure the mod works. This will take longer, but it will be worth it.
After you have your mods downloaded, it's time to install them on your Minecraft 1.14 server. Doing this is very easy. You should have a Forge server setup. If you don't, set one up using the link above. Then, open your 1.14 server folder. Here, you sohuld have a 'mods' folder. Then, drag and drop your mods into this mods folder. At that point, you can start your server.
You aren't done just yet though. You still need to install the mods locall. You must install the mods locally as well as on your server. To do this, click the windows icon in the bottom left of your screen, search for the 'run' app, open it, and type '%appdata%' in it. Then, hit enter. At this point, your roaming folder will open. You should have a .minecraft folder here. Open that, and then, open your 'mods' folder. If there is no mods folder, create one! Once you are in your mods folder, drag and drop your 1.14 mods into this folder.
Now, you can start your server and launch up Minecraft with your Forge version. You must play Minecraft with your Forge version, or you will not be able to be able to join your server or play your mods on your server. At this point, you can join into your server, and test your mods. At this point, you now know how to add mods to a Minecraft 1.14 server!
